Education Africa Donate!

For the past two years, Education Africa and the Sydenham Hebrew Congregation have partnered to co-host the Sounds of Celebration concert in Johannesburg. The concert is an ensemble of young South Africans celebrating social cohesion through music, and this year’s line-up included Marimba Bands (including some of our young learners who are part of our International Arts & Culture Project), a Steel Band, Gumboot Dancers, a Pipe Band, a Japanese Koto, a Djembe Ensemble, a Penny Whistle Ensemble, a String Ensemble, a Greek Ensemble, a Male Voice Choir, and a special guest appearance by Jewish singing sensation, Choni G.

Our thanks and appreciation go out to The Graham and Rhona Beck Foundation, as well as Emperors Palace, for their kind sponsorship of this event. It is thanks to their support that we were able to raise money for our International Arts & Culture Project and purchase marimbas and equipment necessary to equip a marimba hub in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg, and one in Daveyton on the East Rand.

SAVE THE DATE: the 2016 Sounds of Celebration Concert is taking place at Emperor’s Palace, Johannesburg, on 14 and 15 March.
