Education Africa’s Cycle Aid for Africa was launched on 20 March 1997 by then Deputy-President of
South Africa, Thabo Mbeki.

Edu-bike Africa is a practical and inspiring educational programme which was developed by Education Africa around the theme of the bicycle. 

Internationally renowned personalities designed and hand painted Venetian masks which were auctioned to raise funds for Education Africa’s ongoing project work.

The inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award was presented in 2006 at a function in New York hosted
by Brendan McDonagh, CEO of HSBC Bank USA.
